Our Programs
Rosie's Pet Food Pantry
Rosie’s Pet Food Pantry is available to senior citizens and others in Fairfield County facing unexpected financial difficulties feeding their pets. We believe that no pet should go hungry and no person should struggle to feed their beloved pet. We also do not want pets to be surrendered to the local shelter because of a lack of resources.
Senior citizens on low or fixed incomes qualify for ongoing pet food assistance. Others facing unexpected financial difficulties or catastrophic life events are eligible for temporary assistance.
Approved participants are encouraged to contribute to the cost of their pet food if they are able; however, those who are unable to pay and meet the criteria for assistance will not be refused assistance.
Rosie's Pet Food Pantry is stocked by generous donors and through monetary donations to A Helping Paw.
We Partner with Local Organizations:
We are currently partnering with the Fairfield County Council on Aging, the Fairfield Community Food Bank, and St. Luke’s Church Pantry to provide pet food to those in need.
We accept referrals from the Fairfield County Sheriff’s Department Home Alone Program, Fairfield County Animal Control, and other community organizations.
Contact us if your organization would like to partner with us.
How to Get Assistance:
Pet food is available at the Fairfield County Food Bank and St. Luke's Church Food Pantry.
All referrals for assistance must come through a community organization or church.
Vet Care Assistance
A Helping Paw provides veterinary care assistance for the pets of eligible Fairfield County seniors and others facing unexpected financial challenges such as illness, catastrophic life events, etc.
Care is provided through local veterinary practices. Eligibility is determined by A Helping Paw and is contingent on the availability of funds.
We are currently focusing our vet care assistance efforts on well care for the animals of our Meals on Wheels recipients. We will expand our focus as funding allows.
Approved participants are encouraged to contribute to the cost of care if they are able; however, those who are unable to pay and meet the criteria for assistance will not be refused assistance because of an inability to contribute.
Our Pet Care Assistance Fund is funded by sales at our Grama's Attic Booth in Ridgeway, online sales of ornaments and paws and private donations.
OTHER ASSISTANCE
In some cases, we are able to provide additional assistance in the form of leashes, collars, supplements, and supplies. Aid is determined on a case by case basis.
We help link people with appropriate pet related resources within the community.
