A Helping Paw of Fairfield

For pets & their people

Who We Are

OUR STORY

Hello Friends!

We are two people who love petting dogs and cats and chatting with older people.  We both have a passion for quietly and compassionately helping those in our community.

A Helping Paw of Fairfield began as a brief conversation while we were volunteering at an animal shelter medical fund fundraiser.  We saw a need in our community and decided to partner in this mission out of a love of animals and a desire to help seniors and animals in Fairfield County.

A pet food donor (who wishes to remain anonymous) magically appeared shortly after our conversation, a plan was set in motion, and A Helping Paw was formed in September 2025.

We began delivering pet food to two local food banks in September 2025 and to Meals on Wheels participants early October 2025.  We love getting to know seniors and their beloved pets!

The current focus of our Pet Care Assistance Fund is the pets of Meals on Wheels participants. We want to assure these pets have proper preventative care and are spayed and neutered. We plan to expand this program to others in need in the future.

A Helping Paw strives to quietly and compassionately provide assistance to seniors and others facing temporary financial challenges in Fairfield County.  We respect and maintain the confidentiality of those we serve.

A Helping Paw does not discriminate based on race, color, national origin, sex, religion, age or disability.

If we are unable to provide assistance, we will do our best to link individuals with community organizations who can provide the needed assistance.

All referrals for assistance must come from a partnering or community organizations. We currently partner with the Fairfield County Council on Aging, the Fairfield County Animal Shelter, the Fairfield County Sheriff's Department Home Alone Program, St. Luke's Church Food Pantry and the Fairfield County Food Bank.
